NAHCA Membership

The National Association of Housing Counselors and Agencies (NAHCA) has four (4) categories of membership. NAHCA membership year begins January 1 and ends December 31 of each year. The categories of membership are as follows:

Individual: $75.00

Individual(s) practicing housing counseling and other person(s) who support the concept of housing counseling.

Agencies: $125.00

Agencies and organizations that currently provide housing counseling activities and services.

States/Territories: $125.00

This category of membership is reserved for States and U.S. Territories, which desire to form a State Chapter. Although State Chapters have a seat on NAHCA Board of Directors, State Chapters are totally independent corporations.

Other Organizations: $125.00

Any other organization that desires membership in NAHCA and supports some aspect of housing counseling.

Membership Procedures

Any individual who pays dues to NAHCA to become a member must be a member of a State Chapter where a State Chapter exists and has been approved by the NAHCA Board of Directors. If a State Chapter does not exist in a State, the individual should mail their application for membership directly to the national office.

Any agency or organization who provides housing counseling services or supports some aspect of housing counseling and who pays dues to become a member.

Any state, including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam which has ten members and pays appropriate dues is a member. Where there is an absence of the required ten (10) members for a regular state chapter membership, then conditional membership for a period of two years may be accepted with NAHCA Board approval. State chapters wishing membership and a seat on NAHCA Board of Directors should submit a copy of ratified By-Laws, Articles of Incorporation, a certificate of good standing and a list of the members and officers of the state chapter to the national office with appropriate fees.

Any member who obtains one of NAHCA’s certifications must pay their annual membership dues in a timely manner.
